Stupa of Enlightenment
The sacred architecture of the stupa symbolizes enlightenment, the awakened state of mind. The Buddha foretold that those who come in contact with stupas would experience peace and happiness would arise in their streams of being. These 'monuments of hope' remind us that we can free ourselves from dissatisfaction and suffering and experience fundamental genuine confidence.
Found around the world in various shapes and sizes, stupas are known to radiate inspiration, dispel obstacles, attract positive conditions, reconcile discord, and generate harmony. Throughout the ages people of all nations and faiths have been awed by the splendor and peaceful energy of the stupa. Several great stupas have been built in Western countries including Valle de Bravo, Mexico and Benalmádena, Spain. The Stupa of Enlightenment to be built at the San Luis Obispo Center will be a beacon of hope radiating like a jewel from the Central Coast.
Siddhartha Foundation International is proud to support the efforts to build a Stupa of Enlightenment at the San Luis Obispo Center.
